Frequently asked questions

Where should I start with Mass Effect?

Start with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which includes all three games of the original trilogy. Andromeda is a separate story and can be played independently.

Do decisions carry over between games?

Yes — saves transfer between Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3, and many of your choices have visible consequences throughout the series.

Is there multiplayer in Mass Effect?

Mass Effect 3 had a co-op multiplayer mode, but its servers are now offline. Andromeda also had co-op, which has since been shut down. All games are fully playable as single-player.

Which Mass Effect game is best for newcomers?

Mass Effect 1 (as part of Legendary Edition) is the natural starting point, and playing chronologically is the easiest way to follow the story. Legendary Edition is also the most accessible version of the older trilogy graphically.
